Kate Winslet describes herself as fat. Are you kidding me?

Here's what she said in a recent interview:

"I never had a desire to be famous.  I was fat.  I didn't know any fat famous actresses.  I just did not see myself in that world at all, and I'm being very sincere.  You know, once a fat kid, always a fat kid."

I heard you guys discussing this on the show, and upon seeing her quote I think you guys might be mistaking what she means... however, don't get me wrong I think it's as ridiculous as you do that she would call her self fat now in the present. I think what she means is at one time she was fat... and when you see yourself that way for so long, even if you lose the weight, it's hard to really see yourself as "thin"... because of the psychology of it. Those insecurities are deeply embedded.

anyway - just my 2 cents. :)

And then right after that, she said:

"Because you always think that you just look a little bit wrong or a little bit different from everyone else. And I still sort of have that."

She was talking about always FEELING like the fat kid, whether she is anymore or not.

JB - I've been thinking about this since I heard you guys talking about it this morning. While I see your point, I think maybe she was just referring to the time when she was heavier as a child. Maybe she never thought she would be thin enough to be an actress? I *hope* she didn't mean that she thinks she is still overweight. I'm trying to give her the benefit of the doubt because I've never heard her say anything negative like that before. -Meagan
