Raleigh's 7th birthday party
We had a blast with my daughters 7th birthday party. She wanted a "Groovy Dance Party". We looked into renting a dance studio but she wanted it at our house. We rented a dance floor and bought a fog machine and strobe lights. Thanks so much to the "Breaknastics" dance group from Concordia. These were some of the nicest kids I have ever met and they put on a great show for the kids. They also took their time teach the kids some dance moves and hangout. Great party.

Here's your first look at JOHNNY DEPP as the Mad Hatter in TIM BURTON'S "Alice In Wonderland"
He pretty much looks like he does in every film doesn't he. Willy Wonka, Edward Scissorhands, even looks sort of Pirate ish!

The Last Lecture
The Last Lecture
Best book I've read in a long time. The Last Lecture is the amazing story of Randy Pausch who gave a hour long lecture at Carnegie Mellon University, knowing he only had a few months to live. His outlook on life and his attempt to leave some lasting lessons for his three children. This book will make you appreciate life, that is certain.

In dallas
Maki g my layover in Dallas on my way to KC. I love airport bars.
These are the real drinkers! It's entertaining to people watch.
Forgot to pack a book so I picked up "the last lecture". In the short
flight from Austin I already knocked out a quarter of it and it's
amazing. Great book for self reflection. I'm already loving this book.

Secret road
Alex hates that we won't tell him where the secret road is. I was
riding yesterday and took a picture for him.

YOU HAVE TO SEE HOW THIS LADY DESTROYED HER FACE BY HAVING TOO MUCH PLASTIC SURGERY:
Twenty years ago, a 48-year-old Korean woman named Hang Mioku had her first plastic surgery procedure . . . and she was immediately hooked.
--Over the years, Hang had dozens, if not HUNDREDS, more procedures.
--Eventually, things got so bad that Hang's own parents didn't recognize her . . . and she couldn't find a doctor who'd agree to perform any more cosmetic surgery on her.
--So, like any junkie who's going through withdrawal, Hang decided that since she couldn't get silicone injections anymore, she had to compensate . . . by injecting her face with COOKING OIL.

Serious Fishing
My daughter is loving fishing lately, even though she hasn't caught a thing... until today. We tried going yesterday, but it was unsuccessful on many levels. Raleigh was just being cranky, picky and moody. It turned out to be a bit of a disaster. Today she was a bit more patient. She caught the first fish which had her really excited about the whole thing. We ended up catching three bass. She was so excited to keep fishing we made another run to Academy to stock up and more supplies. We had to get a scale to get the "official" weight of our future fish. Great day. I don't want it to get cold...
Survived the 10 Miler
Gilbert Tuhabonye had his 10 mile Run for the Water this morning. It was an early start... 7am. I don't like to get up early on the weekend or head out into the cold. This was both. It was a beautiful morning. I haven't run 10 miles in about 20 years. It went surprisingly fine, especially since I'm waaaaay overweight right now. I hit the scale at 200 this morning. I should be about 175. Running was a LOT easier when I weighed 145 in high school (same height as today) Overall, I ran an 8:02 pace. I would be happy to run at a 7:00 pace, new goal of mine. I am also considering running the half marathon in Jan. I don't have much desire to run a marathon... been there, done that. That is what fried my knees 20 years ago, would hate to do that again.
Congratulations to Gilbert on his 2nd annual run.

Don't you love our "Speaking from the hip" candiates for Pres
This clip shows you just how well rehearsed and acted it all is. We're a bunch of suckers if we truly believe in either candidate.
Trailer for Valkyrie
O.k. I hate to poo poo this movie, but isn't it weird to see a bunch of German officers with either an English accent or Tom Cruise who couldn't even attempt a German accent. He sounds just like Jerry MacGuire. Lame, lame lame.

Exhausted from the weekend.
Crazy weekend. Of course, Friday night was Halloween. We had a blast. No injuries or disasters. Happy to have survived it. My daughter was a great skeleton.
Saturday night we were at the Humane Society Rags and Wags event at the Music Hall. Bummer that it was during the Tech game... but it was a good time. Our dog, Diva was a model for a high end designer necklace, so I walked her down a runway with other celebs including Carol Keaton Strayhorn. I certainly don't consider myself a celeb, but I was nice to be included. As if the weekend wasn't busy enough, Raleigh and I headed out for some Father/Daughter fun on Sunday. We went out to Driveway Austin to buzz around the track. I just got her her own helmet, which she was excited about. We did a few hot laps, went fishing for about an hour. She's much better at casting than I am...as she pointed out. And then we took the old jeep out for some off road fun. Great day until her hamster, Squeeky went missing. She likes to put him in this bowl on our coffee table. While he was in there, she was on the back deck messing with her jack-o-lantern. You know, stabbing it and and stuff. When she went back in, he was gone. He is either still in the house or he went out on the back deck too and fell a couple of stories. Hope he is still around, she's been pretty upset for the entire eve.
